SAE 1070 Carbon Steel

SAE 1070 high-carbon steel is appreciated for its excellent cutting ability, toughness, and ease of sharpening. Like all carbon steels, it naturally develops a patina over time with use. To preserve its appearance and performance, clean and dry the blade after use and apply a light coat of mineral oil before storage.
